Am I right to be angry? My mother-in-law whom I am looking after and do everything for has broken confidences and causing me trouble. I just like for her to respect me and appreciate what I do for her. I am really hurt over this.

Older people will be stuck in old traditions at times, and most of the old traditions do not apply these days.
Problem is to get them to understand that. Maybe you need to find out how can you talk to them in a way that they can understand.
But if they choose to be stubborn than just know that you tried your best and you will have to do what u have to do.
Always remember to gain respect is to give respect .
