Excercise keeps me sane. Distance running in nature does wonders for my depression, and anxiety. We spend so much time indoors in this modern time. Simply being outside is therapeutic. Many ultra runners who run further than marathon distances, are ex substance abusers. Many people with addictive personalaties find replacing that habit with long distance running very therapeutic. 3 years ago I couldn't run 2 miles without a break. Now I'm running 30 mile races etc. It has made a huge difference for my mental health. :)

Well, personally, I think that when we are ill, vitality goes away, and we start loosing the ability to do anything. If we keep looking at our vitality decreasing without acting to stop that, we will die. I say "die" because only dead people do nothing.
