It depends entirely on your physical condition and how your weight affects your ability to move. If right now getting off the couch is a struggle, then I’d recommend to start with smaller steps like spending more time standing, etc. Listen to your body and what it needs. If moving feels good, even if it’s just moving about to do more chores than usual, then it should be safe. Your best bet is to speak with a doctor about any concerns before starting any new exercise regime.

No you do not. Excercising will help you lose weight slowly as you progress. A person should only lose or gain a pound or two a week, if it is more than that you could lose good fats stores in your body like the fat under your eyes that stops you from getting hollowed under eyes. Also carbs+protein=muscle gain. Protein+veggies=weight loss. Never eat right before working out and always eat protein and potassium after a workout, otherwise it will be for nothing. Also don’t drink gatorade or anything that doesn’t have natural sugar. Women can only take in about 23 grams of sugar per day, if they take in more their body won’t be able to digest it and will turn it into fat around the waistline. For men it is around 34 grams depending on their weight.

Definitely NOT! You can begin exercising anytime! Find an activity you like such as walking, volleyball, lifting weights, or yoga! Exercising doesn’t have to be a punishment for your body, it should be a reward for it! You’re making yourself stronger with every step you take.

You should always get a check up from your Dr before starting a new exercise routine and healthy lifestyle...But you do not need to lose weight before you exercise. When you start to exercise you will notice shifts and changes in your body...weight loss and weight gain too as you build muscle. You will have transformations if you exercise regularly and have not done this before or in sometime...you will notice many things. With exercise you want to make sure you are heating healthy and getting plenty of water also.

Exercise can be done at any weight, however it is advisable to consult a medical Doctor before committing to an exercise routine , especially if you have medical conditions which limit your activity .

No but a change in diet or calorie counting will help.

No, exercising while dieting will produce much better results than just dieting alone. Making your diet a lifestyle change is the best way to lose the weight and keep it off. Just turn regular healthy methods into lifestyle changes.

How would this logic work? If you want to do some specific complex exercises like in Olympic weightlifting, the clean and jerk, you'll probably need to lose some weight to be able to do the movement, but it's anyway such a complex move you won't be doing it in the first half year of lifting. Otherwise if you just talk about general exercising, isn't physical activity a fat loss tool? Why would you need to lose weight to do basic exercising?

Note: The following message assumes the reader has not been told by a medical provider to not exercise. Absolutely not! Exercising has many non-scale victories (NSV) associated with it - better sleeping, more energy, lower stress, clearer mind. Those benefits come as soon as you start exercising regardless of how much you weigh. Exercising can be your keystone habit (See the book "The Power of Habits" by Charles Duhigg). This can be the habit that starts other good habits, like eating better to lose weight. Exercise doesn't have to start with running 3 miles and lifting weights. Start where you are with what you enjoy and work from there. It takes time to build a habit and that is what you want exercise to be - a habit that will encourage other healthy habits in your life.
