When you go into an over eating episode it can feel impossible to control those urges, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. There are various coping methods you could try which are outlined in the self help guides which you may find useful. It is really important that you don't blame yourself when this happens, its the disorder that is making you act this way.

It may be the type of food you're eating. Unhealthy junk food can often make you crave more sugar and fat. Try eating healthier, filling snacks like nuts, fruits and vegetables.

It may be helpful to keep a record of what you eat. I find that sugar and artificial sweeteners tend to make one crave more sugar.. Similar to what MidniteAngel said.. stock up on fruits and vegetables. Protein is also important.

When the mind is stressed out.... Due to a neolithic gene that persists in us all... The chemical balance causes the brain to signal cravings due to survival purposes.... Usually these foods will be fatty foods..high in carbs and sugars. These repeated food binges lead to habitual behavior...causing the victim to think its okay to treat themselves with food everytime they are feeling under the weather. Because when your body needs something (salt, sugar, protein, etc) it craves it, making control nearly impossible. So nuts and fruit and other healthy foods are a good substitute to junk when cravings hit. Sometimes it’s hard to reject cravings but it’s worth a try. Also, other things such as boredom, sadness, happiness, grief can put you in a mindset that makes you want food more than anything and that is absolutely completely fully one hundred percent normal. And it’s okay to eat, but as long as you are simply just continuing to take care of yourself and make yourself work out and be healthy and keeping carbs and such at a low then you will be fine.
