I've been in and out of anorexia recovery for nearly three years. Why is it so hard to stay in "recovery mode"?

In my experience, anorexia is an addiction just like any other except for the fact that it's even harder to beat than, for example, an addiction to alcohol. Other addictions can be stopped if you do NOT engage in the behavior that you're addicted too, but with an eating disorder, you're addicted to inaction and so to beat it you have to DO something. Anorexia recovery is an active choice every day because every day, we choose to eat and choose not to let ourselves slip back into it. So, I think it's hard to stay in "recovery mode" because it takes a choice every single day, and sometimes it's easier to be passive and not eat. Choosing recovery is the brave option but it's also the hard one.
