Yup! From my experience one of the biggest misconceptions about eating disorders is that they're about weight. Yes, many people with eating disorders connect their behavior directly with body image issues. However, certainly not everyone. It is about the behaviors you have around eating and the underlying issues that those behaviors are helping you cope with. For example, for me, my eating disorder was so much more about control than it ever was about body image stuff. Whether you have a diagnosable eating disorder or not, recognizing that your eating patterns are not healthy and have to do with underlying things that are not just nourishing your body, is a huge first step towards learning to manage those urges and take better care of your body!
