Any sort of difficult situation can cause trauma, but the most well known causes of trauma are things like violence (including abuse and assault). Sometimes, in the 'right' (or wrong) circumstances, minor things can also cause trauma. At the end of the day, pain is pain. It's all relative and it's all important.

There is no set list of things that cause trauma, very often two people who experience the same event will have very different reactions. For example, if two people experience a violent incident one of them may develop a traumatic response and the other may not.

We can sometimes have these experiences that remind us what pain feels like, what being alive is like and it reminds us how hard life can get. These experiences impacts a person in different ways, it can leave a mark on them, it can spark a new fear in them. But taking hits is only necessary so that we can get stronger the next time around. We'll keep encountering new challenges, but the next time you do, you're gonna be stronger already. That is the precious thing challenges come with.

Anything that can cause you fear as you look back onto it or if you have negative recollections of what happened. (War can cause trauma and this is evident through peoples reactions. My pop was in the war and he has PTSD and hearing loud noises often gives him trauma as he associates the loud noises with is experiences in the war).

Many things can cause trauma, the list is endless. Trauma is anything that will leave a negative footprint in the brain, so, taking that definition, it could honestly be anything.

What causes trauma, especially emotional trauma, can vary greatly from person to person. For one person, it might be a car accident, being in combat, almost dying, rape, or long term physical abuse. For another, it might be a school bully, an embarrassing experience, getting yelled at or fired. That does not mean that one person is weaker than the other, simply that everyone's mind and emotions are different so they will be effected differently.

Anything that upsets you can cause trauma to a certain degree. Some trauma may be more severe and last longer than other trauma, but if it is something that affects you mentally, physically, emotionally, it can cause trauma. Every person processes things in their own way so what is traumatizing to me may not be to you, if that makes sense. It can be something as simple as a bad fall or something as severe as domestic violence. Our response and perceptions of things are different, therefore our interpretation of trauma is as well.
