In my opinion, it's important to address the flashbacks instead of fighting them. The more I try to fight, the stronger they become. I've found that I need to accept the memories and feelings in order to move on.

Flashbacks are your brains maladaptive way of dealing with unprocessed emotions and memories. These need to first be processed and then they can be stored in the brain in a less intrusive way. The processing can be done in a variety of ways - these include body work, cbt, EMDR, regression therapy. Different therapists and clients prefer different ways of working. In my experience sometimes it is necessary to try more than one technique before you discover the 'right' one.
