It's different for everyone. However has you heal the trauma the affects of it should wear off. I believe everything happens for a reason, good or bad. And no matter how bad our experience is, we have it to learn from it, to gain strength from it, to be a light. So sometimes it's better to look to who your going to be, not who you are. I've had traumatic/disassosisative amnesia for 5 years now. I dont remember and cant connect to who i was before 22 years old, least not well. My life was ruined, I lost myself, my family ties and all my friends. Even 5 years later I don't have a strong understanding of who I was. However I do like who I am now. and I feel I am a much better version of myself now, than old me.

I think it is not possible to bring back the personality you had before experiencing something traumatic. I believe that we are the sum of our experiences. Every experience adds up another piece in ourselves which can help in molding us to be better. And although it is not possible to bring back your old personality, it is VERY possible to be happy again and to be positive about life.

It will never be the same, we change, evolve, and you can take this chance to build yourself again. Your way of thinking has changed by the experience, and it will be reflected on your personality, I don't recommend for you to ignore it, we have to learn and move on. You can be better and stronger, if you try you will.

Garner support from family and friends. Engage in activities that bring you joy. If you used to do yoga or play chess of video games... get back to do those sorts of things. Try to get back into life and do the things that make you come alive. Take some risks. Start with baby steps and work your way out.

I don't believe we can be the same person after our traumatic experience, we evolve and every event in our lives is supposed to changes us. We need to see those sad memories as a tool that changes us into a better person. And That's the good news. Instead of letting the trauma hurt and destroy us we can use it to become better and stronger.
We have the ability to turn our wounds into strength!

Hmm, this is hard. I have had trauma in my life and so I can relate. I dont know if you can ever bring back the person you used to be. But you can learn to move forward and work with supportive people so that you can create for yourself the best possible future.
