Not necessarily. First of all, you can't think too negatively about how long your depression will last, because with a positive outlook, you're more likely to heal faster. But if you feel as if you'll have depression for the rest of your life, consider evaluating yourself to clearly see your emotions.

Hopefully not. It honestly really just depends on your situation and what type of depression you have. I have a type of depression that is genetic, so I will have to struggle with it because I physically am unable to make certain types of chemicals that enable my brain to feel happy. I take medications and those help, but I continue to feel depressed on the weekly. I utilize my coping skills to help myself so I can be safe and get back to being my happy, normal self. Some types of depression are seasonal, so you may only have to deal with it once or twice every year. Other types of depression are situational-based, and once you find a way to overcome whatever triggered that depression, it can go away. The answer I want to give you is no, but it truly depends. Hopefully things work out the best for you, and even if they seem incredibly dark and hopeless right now, it does improve. You can still get better even if you have depression forever. c:
