Will I always have depression?

This really depends on your diagnosis. Some depression is temporary. Typically, this means that some event happened in your life and caused you to become depressed. Other depression is long term. However, there is still hope! The good thing is that, most people, with counseling and medication, can learn to manage their depression. They still have hard weeks, and sometimes things might get really really bad again, but for the most part they have it under control. Medication helps their moods even out, and counseling provides them with the skills to change how they react to their moods. By doing CBT and DBT I learned how to notice I was starting to have a real hard time again, and I learned things to do to make this depressive episode less severe. I learned about self-soothing, positive self-talk, journaling, distracting activities, and how to make it through days where every single thing I did felt huge and exhausting. So, yes, you may always have depression, but you won't always be depressed, and it won't always be at it's worst. There's a lot of support out there. I hope you get the skills and support you need so that you can start managing your depression and learning how to live with it - no matter how long or short it lasts - in a more self-loving way. Hang in there. It does get better.

Not at all. Depression can seem as if it is never-ending, but it is not terminal. I know that it is said a lot, but things truly do get better. It all begins with YOU. I was depressed, and I was sat on my bedroom floor, crying my eyes out, wondering what I was doing. Then I had a eureka moment. What was I doing? I was bullying my own mind, making myself seem like a monster. I am not a monster, I am a human. You are not a monster, you are a human. I realised that there are so many opportunities and experiences in the world, and I can be anything I want to be. I can skydive, I can get married, I can travel the world. Life is taken for granted, and depression is just a horrendous black cloud hiding away the never-ending opportunities. But they are still out there, and black clouds pass. I made a blog of positive thoughts, and I changed who I was friends with. I began seeing things more positively and I was happier in the life that I had changed, myself. You can do anything you want to, you just have to be determined and fight for it. You are worth it, and depression is not incurable. You can beat depression's ass. I did, and so did millions of other people. Your journey does not end here, keep going, stay strong, I love you.

Not at all. Depression is incredibly treatable. There are so many times where, when really struggling with depression, I've asked myself the same question, but there are so many routes to get help, it completely depends on how willing you are to receive treatment and which kind of treatment works for you - be it therapy, medication, CBT, finding the source of the problem (if there is one) and eliminating it...anything. Never think that depression is something you will be stuck with for the rest of your life, no matter how much it feels that way.

No, trust me, you will find away to defeat it, although it may occasionally come back, but you will be able to overcome it. But, you will NEVER ALWAYS have it.

I do not believe I will. I feel life is going to get married. If I have depression all my life then I learn to live with it.

Not always. As long as you look after yourself and persevere with this, you will be able to manage your moods. You may always be susceptible to getting depression again though, but it is a learning experience which will bring you familiar to help yourself or others in a similar situation.
