Many times, the medication prescribed just does not work. Frustration builds as we have to try new drugs and wait 2-3 weeks to find out whether or not they will work. It can go on like that for years. There are so many who are possibly misdiagnosed, and how many are truly followed by their doctor regarding symptoms and medication side effects. Few to none. It's a money making industry, people getting rich due to the suffering of others. I have given up on finding help with medication. I rely on my faith in God and take it one day at a time.

Because it isn't that easy, people with depression can't just be wake up and say " i dont want to be depressed today ". People with depression can't just walk up to their mom and say " I'm depressed i need medical help ". a lot of times medical help makes things worse, a lot of people aren't comfortable with talking about depression. so its not that easy to just " find a way to get over it " or " get medical help "

It's a huge issue in our current culture because of the stigma associated, and the challenges of everyday life. Many people struggle with it themselves, and because of that, they do not know how to respond to a friend or loved one who struggles with it as well.

Because depression is really hard and really complicated, and even scientists and doctors don't fully understand it. Every person is unique, and every person's depression is unique, so what works for one might not work for another. It's a personal process to figure out what works.

Depression is very circumstantial. I find that the best way to overcome depression is to change something. Medical help is not all it takes, you need to be willing to get better in order to get better. Being stuck in your current situation that is inducing depression in you will only make things worse. You can start small by joining a club, making a new friend, or start a new hobby. The change may not help immediately, but it is a start to re-designing your life and helping yourself overcome what you are going through.

Depression is a hard thing to get over. Even if you are seeing someone to help you through it and are taking the steps needed to heal, it takes a very long time usually. That is just natural. How long it takes to heal can also vary depending on how severe your depression is/was.

It may be because they might not be willing to accept medical help yet. You have to be at a point where you recognize that you have a problem and need help in order to for medical help to have a effect or difference on an individual. I suffered for many years before I accepted that I needed help.

It depends on their age and severity, many doctors won't prescribe under 18 with anti-depressants because it could make them worse. sometimes you can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped or they just don't know how to "get over it" depression is a very hard thing to overcome because it's almost hardwired into our brains

The anatomy of the human mind is a very complex subject to "wrap your head around". The reason there is no miracle medicine to take for depression is because there are just too many variables. Anything from how you slept to your blood pressure to the individual resistances of electrical pulses in your nerves can affect anxiety. One reason many people seem to get it more nowadays compared to, say a hundred years from now, is because we simply know more about it nowadays than before. The best way to deal with anxiety, is not to, in my experience. Go do something you enjoy to get your mind off things. More often than not, it is pointless to let your thoughts wander the past.
