Why there's so much people with depression that can't find a way to get over it even with medical help?

Depression is not a matter of getting over it. For some, like me, I've come to understand that I live with depression and must manage it. My depression was hereditary. I don't produce enough serotonin in my brain, and my doctor now has me on an antidepressant medication. I see a psychologist regularly, and I've come to realize I will have to remain on antidepressants for the rest of my life. Because my depression is managed well, I currently live a very happy life!

Personally when I first struggled with depressions I had no idea that it was a common thing. I was afraid to talk about it and being judged.
It was so enlightening when I started to be open about it and there were so many people out there to support me.

Because the medication doesn't help everyone, and the real problem is the lack of acceptance, the mind is overwhelmed by the thoughts and feelings and the lack of expression from them, when you feel emotionless its hard to find that way to get over it, you need to build yourself up from the inside out to deal with the stresses of life, but when all those little stresses collect to a force greater than ourselves we burst like a dam and the damage is going to be great.

Some people don't want to be helped. They are comfortable in their depression. Trying to get over depression is asking them to step out of their comfort zone and not all are willing to do so. Even with medical help, the professionals can only help so much. Again, if the person is not willing to help themselves, then there isn't much anyone can do for them. You can't just "get over" depression. Depression is a medical condition and requires the right balance of therapy and medication and even then it can be tough.

Because even with medical help. It's the person's feelings not the doctors and the doctors can give medication and tell them things but if the person doesn't feel good on the inside they can't just "get over it" depression is not something you can just get over.

It is just because most of them are not ready to help themselves. They just want others to help them but it really dont help them much. Depressed people should try to understand that they are the only one who can help themselves . They need to be stronger , positive and try not to overthink and keep smiling no matter what.

perhaps because medical help doesn't really help... why have we lost our rituals? why have we lost the joy of hugging friends, others... why have we lost trust in our body?
