Many people don't know what is actually classified as depression. Sometimes they think you have to be severely depressed to be depressed. Which is not the usually the case. It may be wise to seek professional help if you are feeling depressed.

Maybe you are really good at hiding your feelings and never shared about your true feelings to anyone so when you really get depressed nobody believes on it.

Being depressed is like having a bruise, unless you've felt it yourself - it's hard to describe therfore for some people to understand.

People should not influence whether you think you are depressed or not. Some people are just opinionated and will not believe you even if you provide evidence. It is important that you seek help from a mental health professional not a friend, neighbor or acquaintance. Depression has symptoms and indicators that must be considered before diagnose.

sometimes illnesses like depression are seen as "invisible illnesses" because no one can see how much its affecting you (the only outward symptoms you might be expressing might be that you dont have motivation to do stuff, and most people tend to unfortunately write that off as the person being lazy). because depression doesnt have many outward symptoms, some people think that because you dont show signs of being depressed, your not really depressed. that's just from my experience tho, yours may be very different from mine

A while back, I tried to tell friends that I was depressed, but nobody believed me. For me, depression was the thing I hid, from my family and friends, and they didn't understand that I trusted them enough to tell them that. I wish they knew the pain depression puts on you, on anyone. This made me really reconsider my trust for them. They don't understand that just because you can't see something, doesn't mean it isn't there. I'm not sure if they'll ever understand what it's like to constantly have a voice telling you that you don't even deserve to live.
