Because you're hiding it. Have you told them about it? If so, then are you sure those are the right people?

Well there could be a number of reasons, when I was in eighth grade I had this friend who I told everything and she never believed me for some reason, it made me mad and really confused but when I ask her about it now she tells me that she was in denial and she didn't want to believe her best friend wasnt happy, you just need to explain that you need to seek help and they may believe you..

Sometimes, people don't understand why a person would become depressed. There isn't a simple answer for why depression exists, but there's many different causes of it. What might push you into a depressed state, might be something another person can shrug off. Sometimes it's hard to see why a person would be depressed when, from an outside perspective, they seem to have a good life.

Depression is an invisible disease. Suffering from it myself, I find that often times, the ones around us fail to see it because it's so inconspicuous.

Struggles that arent visibly harming you can be perceived as false, since most people believe that depression isn't as mentally harming as it truly is.

My personal opinion on this is that nobody wants you to be depressed and feel that if they say you aren't often enough you won't be.

It could be because depression isn't necessarily a constant state in which you're feeling depressed, and sometimes when around people, people tend to put up a facade. Whether or not it's intentional or you're unaware of it, sometimes it's hard for people who aren't sharing your thoughts to process the thought that you've been depressed if some days you may not seem like it or try to act as if nothing is wrong.

Because they don't know enough about it or they just don't understand it. People won't always understand or know how to help us, but giving them a chance to, is an opportunity to teach them what we need.

People who have never experienced depression absolutely cannot understand it. They buy into society's image of depression: a pretty girl looking at the sunset. They don't understand that that's not what depression is
