When you are depressed it is common to feel like you are the only one who is being affected. It may surprise you that there are other people close to you who are also struggling. If you need help and want to reach out to somebody who understands and can help you work through your feelings I suggest connecting with a listener here or consulting a therapist. If your depression is more chronic it might be valuable to consult with a psychiatrist as well as physician to get you on a medication that can help lift you up out of your funk.

I think a lot more people struggle from depression than anyone realizes. Chances are, most people are or have been depressed at one point. It's almost like a natural part of life.

I always thing " depression is the silent suffering." It may seem like you are alone in this but you aren't there is a very good chance that someone else in your family that is suffering to. You should talk to them about it.

Who else in my family is going to teach everyone else patience and optimism in my family? I'm sensitive to other people's not-so-constructive criticism and irritation. I also happen to be the one reminding my family members when they're being rude or pessimistic. I guess that's why I'm the one in my family who struggle from depression.

It could be that you are more anxious than others in your family. That doesn't mean that you aren't anything like them. Try to find your sense of anxiety, and get your family help out. By them helping, you'll feel more connected with them and not like the odd man out.

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with depression. Depression can affect anyone and can make us feel very alone. Many things contribute to depression including genetics or stressful events.
