Just like a problem with your heart can cause heart disease, or a problem with your lung could cause a lung disease, mental illness doesn't just happen. Depression is an effect of sadness and a feeling of being lost. So having a depression can vary from one person to another. We might want have something in life, but loose it or never even have it. A sudden loss or a sudden blow to a normal habit can cause depression.

It is not uncommon for people to have depression and to be honest with you everyone will go through a stage in their life where they feel depressed, it is quite natural though sometimes the emotions you are experiencing can be a lot stronger and upsetting so the depression might effect you more than it would someone else.

It could be many factors, your family life friends, loss, anything really even a chemical imbalance in your brain. However it isn’t your fault and it’s a good idea to seek professional help. :) Depression can also be in your DNA as well as a result to a traumatic experience. It is ok because you are not alone as many people are just like you, and it gets better. First step analyses your situation then block out any people or actions causing this, then do something you love, and talk to people that care for you! Finally if all fails reach out to a professional.
