Why do I find comfort in being depressed? I want to get better but then again I'm scared and I don't know why.

ËI miss the comfort of being sadË - Nirvana, Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle
I decided to start with this verse, to show you, that you are not the only one feeling like this. It describes exactly what a lot of people suffering from depression and other similar mental illnesses are feeling, especially during the process of healing.
This is addiction to unhappiness. You get scared of healing, because it's hard and it's something you don't know well enough. You feel safe with the feeling of sadness. You shouldn't identify yourself with your mental illness. Your depression isn't you. And because you identify with it and you know it well, you feel comfortable with it and you are afraid of the change that healing requires.
