Because our minds our always racing to the next thing we have to do at work or for school or the something that needs to be done around the house. It's hard to find time to sit back and relax but it is very necessary!

My mind does not stop working even when I close my eyes. Depression takes up a lot of energy, yet it makes me scared to fall asleep.

Is there something on your mind that keeps you from being able to calm down? If so, maybe relaxation techniques such as meditation might be a good way to change this. Another possibility would be that your body is feeling under-worked. If you stay inside a lot and don't move much, your body might have to much excess energy that it needs to get rid of. Excercising could help with that. x

Anxiety/depression together is often why I find myself so tired but unable to rest. It's like I desperately need sleep but can't turn off the tape that plays in my head. Meditation and breathing exercises sometimes helps me to shut the tape off and get some much needed rest.

There can be many many reasons why you might be unable to sleep. One of the most common reasons can be too much on your mind which includes being anxious, stressed out, or it can even be due to the fact that your sleeping habits are a bit off track. It is important to remember that sleep is a very important part of staying healthy and helping our bodies heal and in saying this we need to examine the things that may be hindering us from this sleep. If you feel like it may be because you are stressed out about something try and right it all down before you go to sleep that way you know you will not forget what you are thinking. Also if you have ever tried relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, that would be a great way to relax your body so that you can sleep better. One great website I like to use is calm.com.

It sounds like there might be something on your mind that's stopping you from getting the rest you need. Perhaps if you confronted that issue first, and found peace, you might be able to find sleep as well.

It's entirely possible that you're suffering from insomnia. This can be brought on by stress in your life, especially the inappropriate management of that stress. I would recommend talking to a therapist or other trained professional to sort out the source of stress in your life.
