First I think it's important to know that negative thoughts about ourselves are completely normal in that most people will experience them to some degree all through their lives. You're not broken or defective or crazy like that inner voice keeps on telling you! :) The important thing is realizing that you can turn that negativity into something positive, and when you find that you'll discover the reason why you have those thoughts. Personally whenever I have a negative thought about myself I try to learn from it so that I can grow as a person. I want to end with a suggestion. We dwell so much on the negatives that everything good and positive falls by the wayside and gets forgotten. Personally that depresses me more than the negative thoughts do on their own. So, do a small inventory of yourself. Put some time aside to think about yourself and find the good again. No matter how small or unimportant or insignificant it seems write it down. Some examples of what you could write: - You always give 100% no matter what it is. - You love to sing.... and you're good at it too! - You love to learn. - You always try to be polite and considerate. - You like going out of your way for others. Or a good one... - You're harsh on yourself but you always bounce back as a better person having learnt from it!

Some times when you get negative thinking towards yourself it could be the cause of many reasons. Maybe somebody is making you feel lower than you really are. Another possibility is that you are comparing yourself to others. Maybe people in magazines or even people you know at school. I can't really point out exactly why you are having negative thoughts towards yourself because I don't really know you and what you have been through so I can't give an exact answer but most cases, those are the biggest things. I hope that helps and I am always here if you need somebody to talk too

Mostly why individuals are having negative thoughts about themselves is because of the unrealistic image that society portrays. People think that that you have to look like the people in the magazines, or have an incredible talent to be important or worth something, which isn't true at all. You are uniquely made, and you aren't like anyone else.

Negative thoughts might stem from various contributing factors, whether is be from internal or external sources. For me, my internal sources stemmed from a fear of failure, anxiety regarding high academic achievement and a fear of not being adequate. The external sources are events such as getting a bad grade on an assignment or exam, or failing a specific task. When ever I got get a bad grade, my self-worth takes a knock and the negative thoughts start streaming in.

Everyone goes through stages where they have negative thoughts about themselves - it's important to realize that that is normal and that just makes you human. While no one is perfect, everybody is important and every 'flaw' that you see is beautiful to me. For years I struggled with my self image. I was unhappy with the way that I looked, my weight and I was always comparing myself to others. I decided to change myself (physically). I lost all the weight I wanted to and more. I changed the way that I dressed. I still wasn't happy. I thought that if I had changed everything on the outside that I wanted to, I'd finally be happy. For me, it took learning to love myself for who I am, and for all my little flaws to realize that I matter, I am a person, and I am a person who is not defined by any of the flaws that I have, whether they are pointed out by me or by other people. I hope that you can find happiness within yourself. I wish you all the best.

Mostly, the reason why people have negative thoughts about themselves is because we feel insecure about ourselves. We tend to compare ourselves from other people and that results to feeling inferior and horrible. We have this imaginary society standards that we have to meet in order to fit "in" but the thing is nobody is perfect and we're not what our intrusive thoughts, we could reframe these thoughts and turn them to something that would lead us to feel better about ourselves.
