You can talk to anyone about depression, but ideally if you're seeking help it would be best to seek advice from your local GP or clinic nurse, who can refer you to more specialised services. Don't be afraid to be open with them; they want to help you and find the best course of action for your health and wellbeing. And you don't have to disclose your situation with anyone you don't want to. I hope you find the help you're looking for.

There are certainly different levels of depression however, everyone experiening the symptoms of it should definitely take it seriously no matter how minute ones symptoms seem to present. The first step is to go to your regular doctor to discuss the issues you are experiencing. Your doctor will most likely proceed with a K10 test (or something similar) to asses the severity of the depression. Ask your doctor for a referal to a phycologist before diving into medicative treatment.

When you're feeling depressed, it is best to talk to someone who you can truly trust, even better if they are more experienced than you and can give you advice on how to overcome whatever you're going through. A mature friend, a therapist, and a trusted adult are all good sources. I know that this may not always be available, so you may also come to 7cups and talk to a listener about your problems. The most important thing is to interact with someone and keep finding people to talk to despite feeling depressed or rejected.
