Realize that they are temporary. All moods--good and bad--will pass. Remember, you are who you are based on many things. Don't allow your mood to define you. Just because you feel bad, doesn't mean you are bad.

I don't think there's such a thing with this as 'just getting over it.' A better way to deal with mood swings is to accept that they are real and they are there. In knowing this you can learn what triggers you to feel extremely down or angry etc. and how to avoid these triggers.

Understanding what triggers your moods to change is helpful, and understanding what moods you most commonly have helps. From there, it helps to learn how to handle and get through each emotion. When I am angry, breathing techniques and mindfulness help. Interpersonal relationship skills form DBT also help. When I am depressed, self-soothing and self-care is important, as is breaking goals into little chunks. When I am anxious, I need Grounding Techniques and breathing. If I get jealous, sometimes I need to journal and take time to myself and wait until I feel I have a realistic view of the situation... It depends on what you feel, and what healthy coping techniques help you. Therapy, as well as research and trial and error, can help greatly in figuring this out.
