What's the best way to cope when you feel like you'd rather just drown in the depression because it's all you know?

According to me, the best way to cope is to believe there's a way out of this because there usually is. Its just that we don't know it yet. Having a schedule, getting involved in activities as a form of distraction helps too as it gives us exposure to a variety of new concepts, people, thoughts and emotions. :)

Feeling depressed is the worst ever feeling because it always comes in combination with a lot of other feelings like anger, disgust, guilt etc.. The best way to cope with it is to help others. When you're unable to figure out how to make yourself happy, do that to others. Manage to get a smile on someone else's face which will automatically lighten up your mood. As they say, what goes around comes around. I have been doing that, and believe me it works like wonders.

Tell someone who will help; it's better not to do things alone. To wallow in pain is easy but doesn't help.

The best way to cope when you are feeling like this because of your depression is to set and achieve goals. I know it sounds like such an effect to do anything but doing something new or challenging can help your depression. The best way to improve your mental health is to be active, stay connected with friends and family and learn new things. Don't let the depression drown you, like you said it's all you know. Learn something new and learn a new way to cope with things and you'll pick that option instead of drowning in depression.

Sometimes I listen to music really loudly. Sometimes kickboxing helps keeps the depression from taking over. Crying, if you feel like it, helps a bit too.

I'd say to think about all the positives in your life, the reason your here or maybe figure out what your strengths out and how you could use those to achieve what you want to achieve or to do something you will enjoy.

The best way is to immerse yourself in something you love. It may be as simole as cooking or taking a stroll early morning. Remeber the things which make you feel alive-say trekking, running, painting ,dancing, playing an instrument. Anything that gets you get of the vicious cycle of thinking self destructive thoughts. Remember you are the boss. Not the feelings. And dont push people away. That way you end of feeling guilty and hurting yourself. Dont let anger get the better of you. You know you are better than this.:)
