The best way to get out of your head would be MINDFULNESS.
Living in the moment, experiencing to the fullest.
It brings up a lot of amazing observations and you can easily get away from your thoughts and hence out of your head.

Doing things that you enjoy, going for a run, talking to somebody you trust completely. Doing so can really help you to empty your mind.

Go do something, play a sport, go for a run, read a book, write. Anything to distract yourself. Your mind is a scary place sometimes you just have to learn how to escape it.

Try to find a hobby that makes you think and focus. For example, dance. It requires so much skill and focus it's hard to go into depth about many things. What I like to do is watch a movie or show that ends on a cliffhanger, so I can ponder about that, and not other unwanted thoughts.

The answer to this varies for everyone! Finding what works best for you is a lifelong journey. Some people find comfort and relaxation through music (whether they're listening to it, writing it, or playing it themselves!), while others enjoy more physical actions like running, weight lifting, or sports. Find what hobby you're passionate about, and see if doing that helps you to escape your thoughts for a little while. (:

You overall should try doing something to distract you from any thoughts. Reading,(not skimming) COULD help. Going for a jog, play an instrument, playing a sport..etc. Anything that might require quick thinking.
