Go do something, play a sport, go for a run, read a book, write. Anything to distract yourself. Your mind is a scary place sometimes you just have to learn how to escape it.

Try to find a hobby that makes you think and focus. For example, dance. It requires so much skill and focus it's hard to go into depth about many things. What I like to do is watch a movie or show that ends on a cliffhanger, so I can ponder about that, and not other unwanted thoughts.

You overall should try doing something to distract you from any thoughts. Reading,(not skimming) COULD help. Going for a jog, play an instrument, playing a sport..etc. Anything that might require quick thinking.
