Shouldn't I be able to get over depression on my own?

Although depression can show up with many similiar symptoms in different people, everyone is still very unique as to how they respond to methods of working with depression. I don't know if "getting over" is the best wording, as depression can be life-long and/or recurring for some people. I know that for myself, (dealing with depression for around 15 years) even when I find I am feeling low again, and even with all of the tools I have from years of support/therapy, I still find that I need help from others to work on the effects that depression has on me and my life. It is great if you can learn new skills to help out with depression on your own, and just for ongoing maintenance of your mental health. Even with doing things on your own, you might still find that you need outside help, and that is a good thing! Finding help in others places shows strength, so never feel that you have to go through depression alone.

Everything is possible, so of course yes you may be able to recover on your own, but a little push from someone else can do wonders :)

It is a lot harder to do it yourself because talking to family or friends or a professional help a lot

I did'nt. Don't worry - the reason is that you cannot be truly objective - you need someone's help for that.

Oh no, it is almost impossible. You yourself are dealing with the depression, it is very hard to recover without family and friends to help you

For me, that was a tactic that I tried to use but I wasn't strong enough on my own. So I called on my friends and honestly it was the best decision I've ever made.

No, not in most cases. Depression is a very serious diagnosis. It affect people in many different ways and it can make you lose your zest for life in general. Sometime medication and therapy is needed and other times having a really good support system and someone you really trust to talk to can help tremendously and get you out of your depression.

I dont know if I have ever had got out of depression on my own like you can definitely try out new things out of your routine which will distract your mind but the new people around you if they are good they can just boost the healing. Its the new memories you create that replace the memories which depress you.
