Being a listener is great, you meet new people. Emphasise with them, chat about how their day is going. It's fun and also a way of learning new things.

Why should I be a Listener? Because I have suffered in my life, and I know the pain, fear, and terror that comes with those things. To keep that experience to myself would be selfish, because I can relate to people in similar situations. Even if I cannot put myself in their situation, I can do my best to understand it given my own experiences. If you have dealt with it, chances are you can help others deal with it.

Listening gives us an opportunity to show compassion and emotional support and in turn minimizes our own struggles and makes us all feel better.

7Cups is a great place to help others and help yourself. If you suffer from anxiety, depression, abuse, or really any mental issue, it's often helpful to clear your mind and improve your self-esteem by helping others and just offering a listening ear.

That's something you need to ask yourself, not others.
Why do you WANT to become a 7cups listener?
I became one because on my first few chats with listeners, it was awkward like Angel-meets-Edward awkward. The chat was stiff and felt like I was talking to a computer, and no I wasn't talking to Noni, lol.
I wanted people to feel welcomed and not like they needed to walk on eggshells all the time.
People should be able to be themselves and express themselves in whatever ways help them.
That's why I became a listener, so that people can be themselves without getting warnings left and right and being banned.
And also, sometimes people are just bored and want to chat but there isn't a "I'm bored" category, so I made sure I have that down on my profile.
But to answer your question, I would say because you can help people, just by listening and being there, people want... no, that's the wrong word, they NEED to feel validated. And you can make them feel worthwhile. "Wow, this person actually cares, even my own mom doesn't care."
And you make yourself feel validated in the process.
Not to mention, this is great Karma.

Being a 7Cups listener gives you the opportunity to help people. I feel that is something most people lack. I am very happy to be a listener.

Becoming a 7Cups listener was probably one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I can help people who might not need to go to a professional. Even though I am going to school to become a counselor. It is also anonymous, it is a judge free zone and that is one of the things I love about 7cups!
