It honestly depends on the situation you are I and the emotional environment around you. Sometimes it can be depression, sometimes it can be you being over dramatic. People are strange things, but we do come in handy.

Only a doctor can properly diagnose you, but if you are feeling like depression may be an option. I do suggest seeing a doctor. It is okay to have feelings, and however strong they are, they are valid. Depression is based on how you feel, so you may be depressed, or it may be something more short-term, or it could be another mental illness. You should see a doctor to get a better answer.

When you are feeling down or depressed, it's important to focus on yourself and how those feelings are making you feel. If you feel as though they are hindering your way of living then they are. Talking with someone you trust or a professional can really help figure out why you are feeling the way you do and allow you to start taking the steps to feel better. You already have taken the first step by acknowledging that you are feeling differently than you usually do

Is what depression? What is your definition of "overly dramatic"? Does either answer make your experiences invalid? Is it not possible to be depressed and "overly dramatic" simultaneously? However you're feeling, that is how you feel, and that is real for you and therefore important. It is common for depression to downplay how we feel, and even beat ourselves up for it, but your experiences are real for you, and you matter as much as anyone. Good luck figuring things out and don't forget that there are often more options than we can see. You can do this!

Your emotions are real. Over-dramatic is as over-dramatic does. Take a physical note of 1) your situation 2) your thoughts and 3) your reaction to those thoughts and 4) the result of that reaction. By looking at what you write, you can better gauge and engage with your situation.

Your question makes it seem that either your depression could lead you to what you perceive to be over dramatic or there is an element of your character that sees although you are depressed ; you are being dramatic. You should brainstorm what it means to be over dramatic and what you believe to be depressed. If you find a few over laps- you are being both depressed and dramatic. If/ where you find overlaps, deal with these points as they are where your trigger lies.

Clinical depression is different than what most people consider sadness. To find out whether you have actual clinical depression, you should definitely seek the opinion of a medical professional. No one without a degree in said field can tell you otherwise.

If you're having a hard time with something, you should speak to a doctor, therapist, family member... speak to someone! You are not alone. Try not to put yourself down. We all go through things in life. We just have to pick ourselves back up, dust ourselves off and keep going.

You'll know if you are depressed when you feel low and sad for a very long period like weeks or even months. Depression usually affects your daily routine and often results in decreased appetite, less importance to personal hygiene, inefficiency at work and lack of creativity. Depression can be LOUD and might lead to your closed ones noticing a change in your behavior and lifestyle. Accents cn change too! If you are feeling low temporarily and probably are able to put up with it without getting your daily life affected, then you might be in place not as worse as depression
