I wouldn't say its particularly abnormal to think about it briefly in passing, or when facing a particularly stressful situation - as its often a thought that comes with wanting to escape a current negative or stressful situation. However, when the thoughts start to get more detailed e.g. thoughts of reactions, method, location etc - then it blends from ideation to consideration and planning. Overall, whilst suicidal thoughts are not uncommon or overly abnormal, if you become aware of their frequency, or an increased emotional or attentional weight on them then please speak to someone about it!
