Yes! It is absolutely normal to feel like this. From my own experience this happens to many of us due to some main reasons. Sometimes we are just too tired to work on ourselves. It is very common to feel drained out in depression and as a result we feel no energy to try anything that takes a bit more energy. Another reason is that due to being in depression for a long time, our subconscious makes it our comfort zone. Being depressed becomes our new normal. Our body being a chemical factory releases such hormones which make us feel used to the sadness and it takes a lot of energy to train our mind come out of the comfort zone, of the new normal of depression.

It's normal to get depressed for assorted reasons, death, breakups, loneliness, but it is not customary to continue to want to be depressed. The adage applies, stuck in a rut, and the longer one stays in the rut, the harder it will be to get out. Just like depression, the longer you stay in the emotional rut, the harder it will be to get out. One needs to take life's simplest things and enjoy them and build on those small positive moments until they become more frequent and more significant moments. When you can have more positive emotions than negative emotions, things will go your way.
