It depends on your definition. I can't say wether the professionals are legitimate professionals in the areas in which they say that they are, but I do be,I eve it to be safe, and know that the volunteer listeners aren't paid, and only here to help.

Are we ever 100% safe - probably not. Morbid though, but a airplane could crash into my home right now and take me out. In general though my opinion is that 7Cups is generally safe.
