I'm an awful friend. I ignore texts from my friends because I don't have the energy or motivation to hold one anymore. What do I do?

Hey there! It’s completely normal to feel this way. It’s not an easy place to be in or feel. Life can get to us from all directions and sometimes we feel tired and just can’t do things anymore. Maybe try treating yourself with kindness and compassion and try to understand where these emotions are stemming from. There’s always a reason behind our behaviors and know that you’re doing the best you can. The fact that you feel this way and are already reaching out is progress...and you’re already moving in the right direction and you deserve credit for that.

Ignoring texts from friends does not make you a bad friend. I, too, struggle with this. When you do not have the energy or motivation to do anything, simple things become really hard, even responding to text messages. It sounds like you are struggling mentally and emotionally; a lack of energy and motivation can be a sign of depression. At the same time, when we feel down, we struggle in our relationships as well, which can make us feel even worse. Communication is really important. Think about ways in which you can communicate to your friends how you are feeling. Your friends will not think any less of you; everyone goes through difficult times, even if they are not vocal about it. Also, with your friends by your side, you can have a support system to walk with you through this difficult time.
