I feel bad I don’t care about friends or much anymore. It has been like this for months and I am paranoid this will be this way forever and that it isn’t caused by depression even though I have it. Whats wrong with me?

I would just like to say that I am not a doctor, nor have I got medical education or qualifications so everything here will be my opinion and reflecting on my own experiences. I strongly recommend talking to your doctor if you are concerned because they can give the best advice and support. One question you need to ask yourself is how has your depression developed? If it has gotten worse then your lack of ‘care’ about your friends may be due to that. But depression causes you to find little happiness in a lot of things in life including social events (speaking with your friends) and things you used to love (for example playing the piano) so this isn’t out of the ordinary so please do not worry or stress :). Depression causes a lack of energy in individuals, so you may just be too tired to care or engage a lot, so it’s highly likely there’s a correlation between your depression and you not caring about your ‘friends or much’. I am fairly certain you will not be this way forever, because I believe anyone can change and something like this can definitely go away with the right help :). There are a range of treatments for depression, so don’t give up hope! There are lots of things you can be doing as well to minimise the symptoms including getting enough sleep and injesting less caffeine so don’t worry, I have faith that you will be fine :).
