Often having feelings of emptiness and hopelessness even though they are difficult to explain... but it's something you sense... And getting upset and stressed over "small" things, because they are the straws that broke the camel's back... There are just so many things going on inside you and yet you have a void within yourself, you want to fill with food, self harming, attention/compliments/validation from others, alcohol, pills, cigarettes etc. And you can never fill the void no matter how much you try to do so... and it's the strangest thing, you're filled with sadness and helplessness, but at the same time you feel empty inside. There's no light at the end of the tunnel... I want to believe that things will get better, but I genuinely don't see how I could ever get a different mind than the one I have now, so it's hopeless... that's depression for me.

It's a cage you have the key to but there's no lock. It's like it fell from the sky and landed around you with a key.

Depression is where you feel like there is nothing to live for and you feel hopeless and feel like a burden to others. You feel as if your a failure at everything and that you will never become anything in life. You have crying spells and your appetite changes and you isolate yourself from friends and family and you lose intrest in things you used to enjoy.

Depression is like being stuck under water, but you can see out of it and see all of your friends/family outside of the water happy and laughing. You want to get out so you try to fake the happiness you see, but it just makes the water feel heavier. The water makes moving, breathing, thinking, etc. Hard.

Depression to me is like having your mind replaced by another one that makes me feel worthless and numb to life. Slipping into depression feels like falling down a dark bottomless shaft, wondering if and when your fall will ever be caught. You feel completely alone. It is a total loss of who you are.

Depression is a hopelessness that you feel stuck in. It's frightening, but you don't know if you really want out. It's the voices in your head speaking.

I can't every person experience it differently. Feeling down is a strong thing but one doesn't need to be sad all the time to be depressed

Depression is like that bully at school, whom you try to avoid and not acknowledge, but he ultimately comes up to your face and tries to screw everything up. He won't let you do your daily routine stuff. His favorite activity is to disturb you while you are doing something you like. But the best part about bullies is that they are weak, when faced with a big smile. :)
