It is like being a wish away from happiness with no coin to throw in the well and not a person in sight who you can ask for a coin.

A depressed person may not want to get out of bed. They have no desire to do things. Their physical and mental energy is low. Eating and sleeping habits are affected. Emotional and spiritual states of mind are also affected.

The feeling of emptiness and of never being good enough. The feeling of self-hatred and being alone. It's a constant battle against yourself, one you feel you were bound to lose.

Depression is a weight that keeps you from the things you love. It doesn't always seem to have any rhyme or reason to it, nor does it always come as a result of something that's sad. It's strong and it's sometimes difficult to get out from under that weight.

Being hollow. No happiness really. You're stuck in a back pit of sadness and you can't escape. You just sink deeper and deeper. And you feel so alone. You're sad almost all the time. When you're not sad, you're numb. It's terrible. The lights in your life have gone out.

Depression is like a demon that is always there, you are just waiting for something to trigger it and that's that set off. But don't worry it can be put back In the shadows.

I've had many different episodes of it and they were often very different from each other. Sometimes I feel almost pleasantly numb as long as I can stay distracted from my life (except that I can't move out of the bed); sometimes I trudge through invisible slime up to my neck yet am also made of slime through and through; sometimes I wonder why I'm not killing myself, because there is so clearly no hope for me; sometimes I feel only mildly tired and cynical, except that I keep noticing myself doubling over sobbing. When this happens I think, "Ugh, there she goes again." Often I sleep for three-quarters of the day. I almost never have the energy to cook or exercise or do housework. So I guess depression is a shape-shifter.

Depression is when a person constantly, or periodically has phases, where they feel down and upset. This can be triggered by a negative event, or can just happen for no apparent reason. Depression can sometimes be confused with just generally being upset, so it may be worth consulting a doctor to see if your symptoms can be diagnosed with depression if you feel you're experiencing it.

Depression is when you don't find pleasure in anything, you can't think of happiness or joy. Even if you were in a situation or around people that used to make you happy you would not feel happiness, instead you would feel like you were alone in a dark room.

You can describe depression as a feeling like sadness or sorrow. You may feel like you're worthless, contantly tired, and that the cup is half empty.
