Depression makes you realize that everything is wrong and off. It feels like your carrying a big weight on your back everyday. Depression feels like your the only one in a room thats not functioning correctly. You don't feel happy and seem hopeless. You feel like you’re moving (and thinking) in slow motion. Carrying on a normal conversation is a struggle. You can’t seem to express yourself. You’re not sure if you still love your spouse/significant other. It seems like everything is your fault. You think your selfish and guilty. You think your worthless when your not.
You have recurring thoughts of death and/or suicidal impulses. Suicide seems like a welcome relief.

To me, depression is a mixed feeling of emptiness, loneliness and failure. Sometimes it can only be one of those things. It's definitely a feeling a sadness and anger. There's a lot of confusion. It can be many different things.

Depression cannot be easily described. Depression is more than only sadness and crying. Depression is a serious mental condition that makes you feel numb, empty, lonely and worthless. Sometimes we even don't feel like eating anymore, or we start to sleep more because it drains our energy.

Depression goes deeper then sadness... From my experience there always has to be a trigger which often sends someone on a downwards spiral.

Depression, from personal experience, feels like a very deep hole where, no matter how loudly you call for help, it just seems that no one else can hear you. It varies from a general sadness in that depression lingers and sets in for a long period of time. Having an outlet and/or a support group that understands is a great start to getting a grip on the condition - and do know that depression is a manageable illness. I wish you all the best.

Depression is like the foam pits at those indoor trampoline places. You feel like you might never escape. You pray someone reaches in to help you. You try to crawl free but every move makes you fall deeper. You desperately want to get out, but you don't know how. Depression is a eternal foam pit. Most of the time you can't get yourself out and you need other people's help. That's why it's so important your here. The people here are here to pull you out.

A lot of people say it's sadness, but I would have to disagree. Sure, there's crying at four in the morning. Depression is so much more than sadness. It's this feeling of worthlessness and drowning. It's like you're cold and even though you have fifty blankets and it's 90 degrees outside, you can't get warm.
