Depression is a numbing sadness that can make you feel isolated, worthless and heavy. These are difficult feelings to deal with. Otherwise, someone with depression could and WOULD just pull themselves out of it. It's much trickier and harder than that. But you have inherent worth as a human being and deserve to recover! Don't lose hope! Talk to people you care about and do things that you used to enjoy. Depression may seem bleak and helpless, but you can make it through! There are always listeners on Seven Cups ready to hear and support you!

I would describe depression as like being in a big, dark hole and no matter how you try to pull yourself up, you just haven't got the strength or motivation.

In my experience, you stop wanting to do anything. You just want to sleep, and the more you lay in bed and sleep the less you want to do anything else, and it becomes a cycle. Talking seems to drain your energy, everything seems pointless, and occasionally something will happen that makes you feel like you want to cry, even if it isn't really a big issue. Symptoms very with everyone (wanting to sleep a lot/ not at all, eat a lot/not at all) so it is not a concrete 'this is how it is', but mainly a sadness and feeling as if it is pointless.

I would describe depression by, you feel worthless. Like you no longer have a reason to stay here of this Earth anymore. Depression is being drowned by yourself, suffering. You don't know what to do anymore. You feel alone and helpless. But don't give up, you'll never be alone. I can promise you that. Stay strong.

A constant feeling of lowness, and the lack of motivation or want to do anything. A feeling which hangs over you constantly and doesn't just 'go away'
