I don't think there is any way you can just 'get rid' of depression. There is a lot of ways you can treat depression. If you see depression as an illness, just like someone with a physical illness i think it makes things easier. First of all, talking about it can be a massive help. It might not seem like it but talking to people who are going through similar feelings to you can be really helpful as it makes you realise you aren't the only one who is going through this. Also there are anti-depressants, i am not qualified to talk about these but if you try and talk to your doctor i'm sure they will be able to help you and advise you on what you can do. I know a lot of people do not want to take medication and I can understand as it is a big decision but if you have severe depression it is something to look into. However there are other ways to help you with controlling your depression. Exercise is your best friend! I know this might sound weird but after exercise I feel like I can take on the world. Research has shown that it releases chemicals that make you feel good and boost your self esteem. There are also natural anti-depressants, however a lot of these don't have a great deal of evidence to support them. Though if you want to, they are worth a try! (Just do a lot of research before you take any). Mediation, mindfulness and yoga can help you and can reduce depression significantly. It is definitely worth trying as nothing bad can come out of it and it can also help you to calm down if you suffer with anxiety or stress in your everyday life. Hopefully one of these will help you. They may not cure depression but they will help reduce it. :)

In the long run, try to find the triggers and try to eliminate them or build up resistance against them (i.e. learn to perceive them differently). For that, you need to clear your mind.
On a daily basis (and this is where the fight goes down), force yourself to do things that used to make you happy. Talk to people that are close. Take a shower and do nothing else. Listen to music and do nothing else. Take the dog out and do nothing else. Start slowly and then try to increase the amount of positive things you do but don't get frustrated when there's a relapse. Then, at points, start thinking about your depression directly, trying to understand it in order to be able to better deal with it.
Most importantly, never stop fighting. And remember, if you need us, we got your back.

you can't get rid of depression in the blink of an eye. I have severe depression and I have had it since I was diagnosed at 13. I was given anti-depressants and I assure you that they work like wonders if you take them frequently to the right dosage.

Immerse yourself in the things you love. If drawing is your favorite, draw to your heart's desire. Sometimes, doing the things we love helps to distract us and understand how we feel.

You can't get rid of depression in 1-2-3, you have to take your time and don't rush it... Also you can't do it by yourself, so its very important to have someone to talk to..

There is no way to "get rid of depression". There is only ways to help weaken its impact/affect. There is not technical right answer since the situation depends on multiple things. Just do you and hope for the best. Try me good things. Help others. I haven't found a way for me to free myself from depressing so I'm not sure. Just enjoy everything while it lasts :)

If you're really looking to get rid of depression, that's something you should talk to a professional about. In my opinion, there's no "cure" for depression. There's only learning how to cope with it. Find something to enjoy and even if you don't feel like it, do it every single day. Don't stop doing it just because you don't feel well. Just do whatever makes you happy, but make sure you do it every single day for an hour or so.
