I used to often think about death way too much. I found that something so beautiful, untamed, and mysterious as death should be something we think about every once in a while, but not obsess over. The journey and every day moments we share with ourselves and loved ones should be enjoyed and cherished. Death will have it's time, and when the day comes we will all discover it's true meaning. Until then find the ways to get the most out of the life you were given.

Think about your goals (if you think you haven't any, then figure it out) and busy yourself acheiving them. Then you'll have no time for thinking about death.

The same way you stop thinking about anything else--start thinking about something different that takes all your concentration. Also, pet a cat or dog if you're not allergic.

You can start filling your days with an activity, if you set your mind on that activity you'll get less bothered with those death thoughts.

You can't force yourself to stop thinking about something- unfortunately, trying to stop thinking about something is its own cognitive process and therefore still centres your thoughts on that thing you want to stop thinking about. It's like the white bear. Being told not to think about it or trying to avoid thoughts of it will only bring you back to the white bear, and the white bear will be intrusive. The best thing you can actively do is try to occupy your mind with other things. That's not to say to swap one obsession with another. It's just that if you give your mind more things to occupy itself with, it won't find itself caught up on one debilitating thought, or set of debilitating thoughts about one thing.

Whenever i start thinking about death and i get all anxious, i start to try instead to think about life, the present and the future and all good that life will give me even though it may come some ups and downs now and then. It may also help to talk to someone about it.

I don't think we will ever stop thinking about death. We can distract ourselves from the thought by using coping skills. Coping skills are very important when it comes to distracting ourselves.

To stop thinking about death, think the opposite way - to live. Do more things in life. Experience as much as you can.
