Be kind, find shared hobbies, support the person, and be yourself. Don't just chat once, if you see them again, make a point of talking to them and letting them know you remember them. It will make them feel important.

To make friends online you have to be yourself. Reach out and just say hey, be kind, and be your beautiful self.

I know I made a couple friends online because they posted something about feeling bad and asked them if they wanted to talk about it. However I would advise being more cautious than I was because there is always a potential for danger.

I'd say, in real life IS a better choice. Go join clubs, volunteer! There are lots of good people there. However, if you are an introvert (somewhat just like me) little steps at a time.
Online friends, if you want to be. Be aware obviously, its not against the law to be friends through internet connection, its ALLL THOSE predators would be removed from this cyber space, this would be also a great place to meet new people and friends. Sadly not the case, keep your wits and rights in mind. What's your limit? Do you think he/she is fishy? Don't give out any information you do not want someone knowing. Decisions are crucial and make wise ones!
There always someone nice out there, on internet or in life out there. Just be safe :)
