How do I know when I should let myself rest (i.e., sleep) and when to push myself to do things?

when u r aware nothing is being done properly, the task u r assigned is getting messed up..take rest ,when u know it is of atmost importance to give your best, means if it for a purpose that is good enough for keep u going then push yourself a bit extra, for tremendous results.

I'm sure everyone agrees that resting is one of the best things to do, however it is possible to get tired of being tired (if that makes sense). If you're overworking yourself your body will let you know; same goes for if you're resting too much. There will be signs that tell you to "go conquer the world," but there are also signs that say, "maybe tomorrow."

I find that having a routine with set sleep/wake times greatly helps me in managing my daily life. Having said that, how much rest you need would depend on how much work you have done and weather or not you feel tired.

Good rule of thumb: Would you feel more motivated after you slept or would you just keep on doing nothing? If the latter is the case, better do it now.

Rest is essential and should be cyclic (going to bed the same time and waking up around the same time), teens should get around 8-10 hours sleep and should rarely be compensated, or you won't be able to push yourself and therefore get overworked

Rest is actually more important than we think. If something is really, really important to you, and is also time-bound, that would be a time to push yourself beyond your limit, and not allow yourself to rest till it is over. However, unless the thing in question is not REALLY urgent, and REALLY important, rest is really important, and you should get some immediately. Not only is it bad for you physically, not sleeping actually impairs cognitive abilities, and would make it harder for you to work as you keep going. Thus, you should really prioritize your work, and decide whether to go for it, or hit the sack.

you should let yourself rest when you can feel your head getting heavy or you can tell that things don’t seem right. sometimes it’s easy to let yourself get away with not thinking straight dye to exhaustion, but when you can’t function well and you can’t do simple tasks without feeling as if you’re about to pass out, you know you need some rest.
you never need to push yourself to do things. you will always have other opportunities and things to help you. if it’s really necessary and very important, then yeah, push yourself. ask yourself what your motivation is and stick to it .

You know better than anyone else, if your body is tired or your mind is tired there is no shame in taking breaks. I hereby grant you permission to work at your own pace, because your process is valid. One thing that can help with the process is developing a routine, figuring out which times you work best. Once you know that you can plan your busy times and rest times better so you don't overdo yourself. It can be tricky to find that balance sometimes and you do have to be patient with yourself but I think in asking that question it shows how committed to yourself you are, which is so great.

It’s really going to be up to you when those times should happen. If I have things I genuinely need to get done, I would push myself to do those things but remembering to take a break after doing them! Personally that’s how I get myself up and doing things but everyone does that differently! It’s really going to depend on how your mind and your body feel that day. You could always have an agreement with yourself, for example, let’s say you push yourself for the day, you come home and then unwind and rest when the day is over! I hope this helped :)
