How do I know when I should let myself rest (i.e., sleep) and when to push myself to do things?

There's a line between lack of motivation and exhaustion. When something needs to be done, or will greatly help the situation from having been done, it's best to find some driving factor to finish the thing. When it reaches to point where it would be more beneficial for you or those around you to take a break or stop for a while (as when it is no longer healthy to remain active for so long), then it's time to step back for a breather.

Simply listen to your body. Our bodies are designed to send us a signal if were tired, and we have to do as it says. If you still feel energetic and motivated, go ahead and push yourself to do what you wish.

Think of yourself as a tree, grounded deep in the roots and still able to move freely by the winds of the world. As this tree you will know when to ground and when to reach your limbs out by paying close attention to your own biorhythm.

Time. You usually push yourself if you're about to finish something and you don't have the luxury of time. and you should rest if submitting the task is still far and you're stopped being productive about it.

It depends what's stopping you. I have CFS, and if I push myself to do things, I crash. Tiredness is your body telling you to rest, but sometimes doing some activities can give you more energy. ❤

You should let yourself rest when you feel like you got a good amount of work done and you're tired. It's not the best idea to overwork yourself to the brink of exhaustion. However if you relaxed a bit more, and your ready for more work; you should push yourself to get what you can done.

If something in this world is causing you unnecessary stress, then I would say take a break. Even if in the future you come back to that same thing, take a break when it starts to stress you out in a negative way. Stress is not always bad however, so if the stress that comes from a certain activity or dedication isn't harming you in your opinion, then I would say push yourself to be the best you can be, but if it ever starts becoming negative stress, take a rest for a bit and wait for yourself to become content again.

You have to feel the balance of your limits. If you don't rest when you feel tired it can result in not achieving the goal that is set. Better to take a rest and charge you batteries for future victories!

If you are physically exhausted then you need a rest and that is ok. When you are mentally and emotionally exhausted it does not help to just go to sleep. Find someone to talk to. Develop a good habit like exercising. Do something to help you work through the problem you are facing and you will have a good nights rest after solving those issues.

You should manage your time and you need to know yourself...For e.g. when I feel exhausted from school, after I come home just rest for an hour or two like I read something, watch something. And after that I'm ready to study. But some people are able to study right after they come home...Sometimes I study all night, sometimes I go and sleep..so it's very individual. But it's important to sleep and reast as well because you may not be very effective..just listen to yourself and you'll find your way :)
