How do i get my loved ones to understand I am seriously depressed because my injury changed my life forever?

for me it helped being really vulnerable and honest with them (it was an 'incurable' illness, not an injury) . no blame. no acting out. Not trying to make them feel bad. Making sure they can hear me (and not feel guilty or sorry for me). Being clear that I really want them to get me, to feel understood - not looking for sympathy, just understanding. And being kind and gentle with them too - knowing they are trying their best and really worried about me. Also being clear about what kind of support I needed at the time - mainly moral support. It helped.
