You could go to centers for the elderly. Give cards just showing you thought of them. Just a smile.

Its easy, most retirement and nursing homes actively seek visitors for their residents. This is because while staff do often care deeply for their residents, time constraints often prevent them from being able to engage on a personal level. This engagement is critical for the elderly as it helps to keep their minds active and keep them happy. I have never actually volunteered with the elderly, but when i was a child my mother worked in a retirement home and I was allowed to go to work with her. it was a wonderful experience, like having a hundred grandmas and grandpas all sharing a collective thousands of years of life experiences with me!

See if you have any grandparents who would be willing to let their friends contact you? Speaking to the elderly is a great way to earn volunteer satisfaction and gain knowledge only available through the elderly!

Age can bring its own problems, including reduced mobility owing to ill health or frailty – this means that older people easily become isolated and trapped in their own homes, so volunteers visit them to ensure that they stay in touch with the rest of the community. Many care facilities welcome visits from volunteers, especially to those residents who no longer have family members who visit them. This kind of volunteering is normally more structure than home visits, and may include working as a team that organises musical or art activities or performing such tasks as reading aloud, helping with hobbies or just walking around the garden with an older person who has balance or mobility issues.

I don't know. But you can start with your family. You can volunteer at nursing homes. You can offer assistance to someone in public that looks like they need some help....

You can volunteer at retirement homes and other assisted living centers. Leading exercise classes, leading outings, or just hanging out with the residents are ways to volunteer and talk to them. :)

The best way to go about that is to go to your local nursing home and speak to the activities coordinator. They can provide you with the information you need.
