Try writing down in a journal, or doing something you love. Thoughts come and go. It may feel like a lifetime since it’s been in your head but it’s only been a few minutes. Take a breath, it’s okay.

When I have a negative thought stuck in my mind, the first thing I do is a yoga session and also some mindful breathing. I also like making lists. For each negative thought, I have put a positive one in a column next to it. Writing things down helps me see things brighter. Focusing on the positive side of the list helps me realize that there is always a solution to a problem. It might take time, but I will find a way to make things better for me. I think being proactive in your life is very important. Asking for help is also crucial. It is not the more comfortable thing to do, but it can really work. Coming here, for example, to have a chat with someone who will listen to you. That might help you get precise words around those negative thoughts and work out ways you could make them go away.

What I've found helpful is first to accept the thought; to acknowledge that this is just a thought that has arisen and to not become attached to it. I once heard the analogy "thoughts are like clouds; let them drift past, as you would do without focusing on any particular cloud". Thoughts in themselves are not reality, but whatever thoughts we focus on are those that will go on to shape our perceptions and reality. One technique that I have found to be useful is that of mindfulness, where we learn to let thoughts arise and then subside, without judging them. It takes practice, but it is a skill that can be learned.

Having negative thoughts is not a bad thing, yet if your request is to stop feeling negatively as a result of thinking negatively, then here's a process: 1.How do you want to feel? (answer that first) Then ask yourself: 2. What thoughts bring/arouse/attract that feeling? (then answer that) 3.What action helps the thoughts to bring the feeling in? For example. I want to feel free, loved and appreciated. In order for that I want to think that I am capable, I am worthy, I am enough, I have value. In order to help those thoughts create a feeling I am going to go for a walk to feel free, help someone to feel appreciated and valued and call someone first and tell them I love them to feel love and warm fuzziness. I trust this helps
