I personally struggle with my self image so when doing my makeup I will pick out things that I think I've done well such as my eyeliner or lipstick, then when I'm dressed I find things in my outfit that accentuate my body or make me look nice. This is so, so helpful and I always feel better about going out even if it is only to the shops.
