How can I make my friends and family understand that my depression is a serious issue, not just me being dramatic?

I would like to start off by saying I am very sorry you're going through this issue. It can be really discouraging and frustrating being in a situation where people aren't listening to you and are making you feel invalidated. I think the best way to help them understand it may be to show them some articles and research on it. Sometimes it is easy to ignore the symptoms they may see in a person but having concrete "evidence" such as scientific research may help. It may also help for them to talk to a mental health provider or someone who supports people with depression who may be able to help them understand that it is a real issue.

I can’t make anyone do anything.
All I can do is learn to respond to their behaviour in ways that changes the way they treat me.
This takes time, patience and a bit of effort.
Learning more about health, wealth and happiness helps with that.
What is even more helpful is putting what I learn into positive action.
One thing I can learn is to stop trying to control others, and to be less critical and more complimentary.
I can also be more humble. Learn to stay hungry. And to finally keep hustling.
All this I can learn to do at my own pace in my own unique way, and I can allow others to do the same.
This doesn’t mean I accept abuse or my boundaries being violated. I can let go of others and not have them in my life with ease and love.
I can do it.
