I have been in a depression some years ago. Being depressed doesn't you're just sad, it feels so numbing to the point that you aren't sure what you are feeling. I felt hopeless and lifeless. Unworthy of anything. But then I woke up feeling tired of being empty. I wanted to care and to live. That is why I tried to do things I used to love doing. I read books, watch movies, go outside. I tried living. Eventually I found my peace. I met people, I learned stories. I saw the world differently. I saw the world with better colors. I learned that I can only rely on myself. And living for myself is actually the greatest thing I used to fight the battle inside my mind.

Be there for them. Sometimes people with depression will push people away but support and company can help them but be careful to give them space when they need it. Just check on them to see if they are okay and be there to listen to anything they want to talk about.

Offer them company. Let them know you are here and want to be there for them when they are feeling down. Let them know how much they mean to you, because depression can likely stem from loneliness.

The most important thing is to be there for that person. There are many things we can do for people with depressions so they feel better, but that might not be enough. They might also need medical care to recover. It is important to keep this in mind as it can prevent us from loosing patience or getting frustrated because even our greatest efforts cannot cure the depression.

Be a friend to them and let them know you are always willing to listen. Try to help them with whatever they are going through.

You can give them uplifting sayings and ask them to explain why they are depressed. Maybe you can tell them that everything will be okay

I can listen support and guide them to the right help. I can ask them how their day is going and try to make it better.
