Just be there for them, let them know that you understand how they feel, and can relate to them in some way.

All you have to do is be there for them. When they need someone to talk to, be that person. Tell them they are not alone. Tell them they have you as their friend even when you just met each other.

Talk to them and listen to them. Actually CARE about what they say, don't just try to fill a quota

There are lots of ways, from participating in these forums or listening to people in need here on 7cupsoftea (of course), to participating in other forums or helplines/webchats, befriending people who need someone to talk to, signing petitions to change the way things are done, and taking part in charity fundraisers, and discussions. You can help raise awareness of certain services or causes by writing or creating art about them. The list is long. If you ask me, this is a very good place to start. :)

Just be there for them. Talk to them when they need it, let them vent to you, get any negative thing bothering them off their chest. Just talk and be there for them. And don't leave them, because a lot of people do that and the other person learns not to trust others and doesn't be very open to anyone anymore. In my opinion and experience.
