i think sometimes people can get so caught up in it, and used to it that they see it, wrongly, as a part of them they should accept, not let go of.

Some people are just naturally depressed. They become accustomed to being depressed and think that there is no other way to live. In their life it is hard to want to get better when that is the life they know to live.

Not always and sometimes this is the cause. People want the attention subconsciously and therefore cause themselves to be depressed, without realizing it to get attention. It takes deep self examination and releasing in these cases to rid the depression.

Absolutely, we want nothing more than to get better and live a normal happy life being active and doing the things we like.

No. Sometimes depressed people think they don't deserve to get better, or don't believe it's possible to get better so they don't even bother to want it. Some depressed people think they deserve to suffer, some want the relief of death. Many depressed people resist treatment and attempts to help them.
These thoughts are, of course, an example of the kind of distorted thinking depression can cause. They go away when the depression eases. They are not reflective of that person's true self or their true desires.

I'm sure that people don't always want to get better but even if they don't want to get better they deserve to get better

No, it becomes comfortable, it's what they know, and often they're afraid to get better because they can't remember a time when they weren't sad...

Not always, sometimes when somebody gets into the "routine" of depression it can be incredibly difficult to get out of it. Therefore after a while, some may find it too tough to break out of the cycle so they sort of give in to it. And when that happens, they consider their depression to be a "safety blanket" which makes them want to remain in what they're used to. I hope this has made sense and has helped!

Everyone wants to get better and get rid of the depression, it's just that sometimes it can feel so overwhelming and makes you so powerless that you might get the impression that someone doesn't want to get away from it. Usually it's that those people have given up, being a lack of support, mistrust in themselves, ... Always try to reach out and help :)

People suffering from depression have no drive at all. So yes they might want but no, they might not realize that they want it.
