Do I have the right to feel depressed even if I'm privileged?

Sometimes it can feel like, because someone else has it harder than us that we don't have the right to feel depressed or other intense feelings. While it's great to acknowledge other people's struggles, it's important to remember that your own feelings are valid s well. We all have our own struggles to deal with and your own struggles and feelings around those struggles don't become any less real or valid because someone else might have it harder.

Depression is not a right, nor is it selfish or wrong. Depression is an uncontrollable thing. Whether or not you are privileged, you can feel depressed. It's not a right, it's a human emotion, and it isn't selfish or ungrateful to feel depressed even if you're privileged

Yes. Absolutely. Without a doubt. Yes.
Privilege has absolutely nothing to do with depression. And depression has absolutely nothing to do with privilege. EVERYBODY has the right to feel depressed. Or anxious. Or stressed. Or any and every other way you feel.
Privileged just means privileged. It has nothing to do with mental health.

It is okay to be sad or feel down. Money has nothing to do with how you feel about yourself and other things. You should find something that makes you happy.

Everyone, no matter what walk of life, financial situation or situation has a "right" to feel everything they feel

Of course you have the right to be depressed, as bad as that sounds. It doesn't matter on your status, or whether you are "privileged", we are all human and subject to the same emotions. Everyone, has a point where they feel sad, and you certainly shouldn't deny yourself the right to feel, as some moral high ground.
What I suggest is you take a step back and consider how you feel, as you certainly have the right to feel happy. Many celebrities have gone through depression, despite being well off. Don't feel guilty for feeling bad, as privilege has nothing to do with it.

Depression doesn't discriminate, it can effect anyone no matter who they are or how privileged they are. It is okay to feel depressed and you should never think that you shouldn't just because of your circumstances.

Depression isn't a 'right', in my opinion. Anyone can feel depressed, or experience depression, no matter their circumstance or upbringing. It could be a genetic influence, which we have no control over, or just the way we have conditioned ourselves to receive information.
What you can get from asking that question is the knowledge that you have things to appreciate and to be grateful for. It isn't your fault for feeling depressed, and I get that these privileges you have in your life might not compensate for the low periods you go through, but it shows you that you can try to find joy in the little things you're blessed with, and then it'll be easier to identify some factors that contribute to your depressed moods.

Yes. Depression doesn't always have to do with your quality of life. No one is safe from mental illness and you shouldn't be ashamed of yourself for it.

Of course! Your feelings are valid, no matter how privileged you are. Your feelings are valid no matter how depressed you feel.
